Hide behind the lens
“Beat the Crowds” was made early in the morning during a trip to the mountains. This one is from Lake Louise early in the morning and it is more about what you cannot see as people are five rows deep behind me all along the waterfront while what is in front of the camera is all serene nature. This brings me to the point that there is a real danger in Nature photography showing a world that, on the surface, appears to be perfect – causing people to believe all is well with the environment. Too often we, as photographers, try and show an idealized, make believe, view of the world which too frequently makes people think there cannot be anything wrong with our treatment of the environment.
