Door Fourteen

The paint cracks and fades
shedding the stories of those
who made it their home

Week 07 - Door 14Week 07 - Door 14 “Door Fourteen” was made in Portugal during a walk I did in 2017 when my wife and I walked from Porto, Portugal, to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.  There was so much to photograph on this trip, but I found myself fascinated with all the different doors I came across in many of the small towns we walked through.  To me, the appeal of photographing doors lies in the ambiguity we attribute to a door. On the one hand, a front door is meant to look inviting while at the same time also blocking entry to all but a select few.  But what happens to our thinking when the door has in some way fallen into a state of disrepair and decay?  I have more to say about photographing doors here
